Maki-e

S.T. Dupont brings the exquisite refinement of Japanese Maki-e craftsmanship to its French heritage.

MAKI-E DRAGON

The majestic dragon inspires the first chapter of the Maki-e collection. A symbol of power, prosperity and protection, it embodies the richness of Japanese culture and art. Rendered with exceptional finesse, it adorns the Ligne 2 lighter and the Line D Eternity XL pen.

MAKIE-E KINKAKU-JI

Kinkaku-ji pays tribute to the spiritual beauty of Japan and to Kyoto, the former imperial capital. Inspired by the Golden Pavilion, the city’s iconic temple, each piece evokes the profound harmony between humanity and nature. Capturing the very essence of Kyoto—its serenity, light and refinement—the collection adorns Ligne 2 and Line D Eternity XL with a design of timeless elegance.

MAKI-E RYUSUI

Ryusui Shunju celebrates the cycle of the seasons and the gentle passage of time. Cherry blossoms evoke the fleeting beauty of spring, while maple leaves embody the warm atmosphere of autumn. This traditional floral design adorns Ligne 2 and Line D Eternity XL, symbolising the harmony of the seasons and the timelessness of fine craftsmanship.

MAKI-E SAMURAI

The Samurai collection portrays the duality of life and death. Inspired by warrior iconography, it combines the power and honour of the samurai with the fleeting beauty evoked by skulls and peonies. Nashiji gold—a Japanese decorative lacquer technique—mother-of-pearl inlays and shades of vermilion adorn Le Grand Dupont and Line D Eternity XL.

MAKI-E TORYUMON

Toryumon draws inspiration from an ancient Chinese legend in which a carp transforms into a dragon, symbolising success and personal achievement. Adorned with koi carp, the creations evoke the journey towards self-transcendence and the fulfilment of one’s ambitions. Each piece becomes a talisman celebrating determination and inner strength, enhancing Ligne 2 and Line D Eternity XL with a powerful and meaningful design.

MAKI-E FUGAKU

An ancient name for the mountain, imbued with poetry and spirituality, Fugaku pays tribute to Mount Fuji. A spiritual landmark to this day, it embodies the quest for the elevation of the soul. The torii, a traditional gateway, symbolises reverence for unseen forces and a profound connection with nature. Inspired by the warm colours of Japanese autumn, this new Maki-e creation adorns Ligne 2 and Line D Eternity XL, celebrating the balance between tradition and modernity.
