The Ligne 2 lighters emit a characteristic and immediately identifiable crystal-clear sound, the ‘Ping’, when the lid is clicked open. The ‘Ping’ sound appeared accidentally on the Ligne 2 lighter in 1976. However, after noticing that many of the Ligne 2 lighters received for servicing had been slightly ‘altered’ by owners trying to perfect the sound, the Manufacture teams finally decided not to modify the design and construction of the Ligne 2 lighter.
