Launched in 1973, the "Classique" is the first luxury ballpoint pen. This writing instrument is reserved for a clientele of initiates. Designed by Jean Malamoud, the pen was exhibited at MoMA, the famous museum of modern and contemporary art in New York. The product is available in a ballpoint model and a silver or gold lead model.
Originally, it is a wild silk fabric with a fluted texture of Chinese origin (from the province of Shandong). The silk effect is therefore imitated and reproduced using a lacquering and application technique developed by S.T. Dupont ( Chinese/Urushi lacquer).
