The Guilloche
Guilloche is an engraving technique done mechanically: the chisel and the piece are fixed on the guilloche wheel where simultaneously one undergoes a rotating movement and the other a to-and fro movement, thus producing perfectly regular engraved lines and curves.

There are two techniques for cutting the metal which depend on what tool is used: tungsten carbide and diamond.
The designs obtained differ in shape and appearance. The tungsten carbide tool offers a wide range of possible shapes and motif outlines whereas the diamond tool gives an incomparable precision and sharpness to the cut.
The two techniques can be combined to obtain the most sophisticated designs.
Hidden behind the roller, engraved in the metal, are the initials of the worker who assembled the lighter - an invisible reminder of the pride in the making of a unique object.
