The cut of the leather

The best leathers are cut delicately using patterns, as is fitting for an haute couture piece. The process is delicate and requires considerable dexterity. Each piece to be cut out must be placed and then spread over the total surface very carefully.
The artisan then seeks out the best way to present the material by touching with the palm of his hand. About 200 pieces are used to manufacture a large leather article.

Prior to the final piecing together of the article, the last stage is applied to the pieces of leather - the trimming. The edges of the leather are softened and thinned to prepare them for sewing and assembling the completed article.
Then, to give a perfect finish to the edges, each piece that has been cut is smoothed carefully before being joined with the other pieces.
