Built on 135 years of expertise, master goldsmiths, lacquerers and trunk-makers delicately and skilfully craft rare objects that are all hand-finished, numbered and produced in France.
S.T.Dupont indulges in the art of living with a clear passion for writing, travel, seductive accessories and smoking articles: this is the precious legacy of its founder Simon Tissot-Dupont. Created in 1872, the leather-goods workshop becomes a rapid success. When his sons took up the reins in the 1920s, their sumptuous, single-edition travel trunks attracted high society from the four corners of the world. The wedding of Princess Elizabeth provided one of the last occasions for S.T.Dupont to produce stunning custom-made travel accessories, a gift from the President of France to the future Queen of England… In 1941, the war transformed S.T.Dupont from leather-goods maker into master goldsmith, with the production of a petrol pocket lighter, which in 1952 was transformed into a gas lighter, meeting with dazzling success. In the 1960s, it gained iconic status in the collective memory, which crowned it a “cult” object. The “Dupont” lighter established the brand’s reputation, putting it at the top of the list of the great names in French luxury. Luxury pens entered the world of precious metalwork, and, in 1973, were introduced as a new line. An entire series of innovations ensued, including the return of leather goods, and the introduction of ready-to-wear clothing and men’s accessories. Time gently fostered the transmission of one man’s love for beautiful objects... S.T.Dupont entered the legend of experienced, quality know-how and world-renowned luxury à la française. |
